Although Cee’s challenge this week to show off some of our best photos of people or animals from 2012, I always have a hard time choosing which are my best photos, so instead I’m going to share some photos from 2012 that I didn’t get to share yet which have both people and animals in them.
I took this first photo in Belem, near Lisbon, Portugal. I’m not sure what happened just prior to this shot but it looks like the little girl was trying to say hello to the horse and the horse just shunned her, looking away in disinterest. I love the look on her face as she doesn’t know what to do next.
My second shot is of more horses – all lined up in the shade of the Giralda Cathedral in Seville, Spain. During our short visit there we were asked maybe 100 times if we wanted to take a ride, even though we weren’t interested. I realised towards the end of our stay that there were so many horses so that they could have a break in between tours because it was so hot. Also because it was so hot, I noticed that the horses were rotated around the building with the shade.
This last photo is from our visit to the Zoo a couple of weeks ago. The ‘Familiar Friends’ section was rather popular with the kids because they could feed animals. The animals were also pretty happy that there were plenty of children around to feed them.

Thank you Cee!
The expression in the little girls face in the first one is priceless.
Isn’t it!
these are gorgeous Georgia…and I agree with Isadora about the girl’s expression…priceless
Thanks so much Jo!
It’s so good to learn how the horses are cared for in the heat, I always worry about things like that – thank you!
We saw horses getting a nice cool rub down after their walks too.
This is a great post. I love the challenge, and your pictures captured it perfectly. Thanks for visiting my site, and I’ll be following yours as well. 🙂 Marsha
