A Word A Week Challenge: Traditional

When I was telling my mum over the phone about the wedding that we went to last weekend, the first words past her lips asked ‘Was it a traditional wedding?’.  In many ways it was – such as the white dress, making vows, exchanging of rings. And in some ways it wasn’t, for example the bride wasn’t given away but gave herself freely and there was a magnificent cheese tower instead of a wedding cake! Traditions can be comforting, but sometimes they just need to be tweaked.

  1. The traditions that are tweaked make the wedding more a reflection of who the couple are, I think. Like having cheese instead of cake to celebrate the union.
