What are some words that just make you smile? Family, play, love, funny, generosity, unicorn, wishes
When you lose electricity in a storm, do you light the candles or turn on the flashlight? How many of each do you own? We recently found a huge collection of candles that we had in storage and had forgotten about. They’ve all just gone back into storage, although we do have one out for decoration at the moment (I think we did light it once though). I’m definitely more likely to turn on a flashlight because although I may know exactly where my one candle is now, I’m going to be fumbling in the dark to find the matches while I have my mobile phone right next to me to be made into a flashlight.
What is the longest book you ever read? I read a really long book recently called ‘The Luminaries‘ by Eleanor Caton, which Goodreads says is 834 pages, but according to the same website one of my most favourites reads ever was longer: ‘Reamde‘ by Neal Stephenson checks in at 1044 pages. If reading a series of books counts then I’m now about half way through the 5th book in the Game of Thrones series by George R.R. Martin, all of them are long books and five of them in a series, which is effectively one long story, wins hands down.
So you win a pet monkey at a fair, but this isn’t just any old monkey. It can do one trick for you whenever you want from getting a pop out of the fridge to washing your hair. What would be the trick? I’m going to follow Cee’s lead here and go with a cleaning trick. I hate all types of cleaning so I think that is a pretty good trick to have.
Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up? I’m grateful for fun friends to hang out with, we went to see ‘The Other Woman’ last week as I was anticipating and we ended up going to the Gold Class cinema, which was a really fun night and very relaxing to see a chick flick with girlfriends in such a lovely environment. This week I’m looking forward to returning to my Zumba class after the instructor has had a break for about a month.

Thanks Georgia for sharing this week. I sure appreciate your participation.
Thanks for your interesting questions each week Cee.
I think picking cleaning is wonderful. I want an army of monkeys who can do that. what did you think of The Luminaries Georgia ? I have it on my kindle but just cannot get in to it.
Actually I enjoyed the first part of the book but not so much the second half, quite the opposite of all the ladies in my book club who I read it with, who like you had trouble getting into it. After we talked about it there was so much that I didn’t get though. The first chapter is the longest because each chapter is half the length of the previous one – if it is the wordiness that bothers you.
I am actually not sure what it is that bothers me about the book. I feel no connection to the characters though, and there are just to many words to say what could be said in simpler terms. Not many writers can get away with using more than necessary to say something. I don’t think this one has done it well.
I agree the first part is extremely wordy. Apparently it was discussed on The Book Club on ABC last night, I haven’t watched it yet and I don’t know if you will be able to watch the iView outside of Oz but it looks like there should be a transcript, available soon perhaps?
