I discovered pretty early on that I can’t use the manual focus. It’s not that I haven’t tried, it’s just that I find it so frustrating to spend what seems like hours (in actual fact, seconds) twirling the manual focus knob and still ending up with slightly out of focus photos. So any time I turn off the blessed auto-focus my photos are immediately unfocused.
Not the case with this image though – it is actually in focus, but of a mirrored ball reflecting back an unfocused image.
I really like this shot – it was taken on a recent trip to Dublin, Ireland, for a friend’s wedding. During our stay we took a stroll through Dublin’s Trinity College where this giant golden mirror ball is located outside of the Library. Very close by is the famous Book of Kells. I highly recommend a visit.
Cool photo, G. Love the idea of playing with focusing and mirrored images in the one shot!
